Garlic Planting and Harvesting Experience

Garlic Planting and Harvesting Experience

Garlic is harvested each June, and planted in September.
Garlic planted in the fall, is left to overwinter and survive the harsh winter cold under the snow.
As the snow melts in the spring, the garlic buds and grows lushly through the early season, and are harvested before the summer heat arrives.
In fact, it takes nine months for the garlic to take the shape of the garlic that you frequently see.
You can experience harvesting and planting garlic while learning from a farmer who has been growing garlic for many years in Takko Town, Aomori Prefecture— the home of garlic!

Fee: Free of charge
Location: Farmer's field in the town
Estimated time: 2 hours or more
Reservation Period: Planting - June to July, Harvesting - September to October
